2011 Wrap Up
Another year has passed. We are all blessed to be here.
Let's look back of some of the hot topics of the year.
The Occupy movement - in a nutshell - the people are growing tired of the bullshit. Corporate bailouts. The rich continue to get richer, the middle class is slowly evaporating and in most cases sliding down to the lowest class. Big Brother is casting its net further and further with NDAA bill while blinding the masses with more cuts to the essentials of living. Increased costs in healthcare are met with shrinking and invisible merit increases at work. Not to mention the bailouts and the money that just was dished out with little or no economic improvements.
At least they got their man, or so they say. Body is floating in the ocean with the missing Transformers, the alien ships they scraped from Area 51, the missing OJ glove, Roger Clemens steroid syringes, aluminum, and of course the missing yellow cake.
...can best be summed up by checking out this post....SweetNuthingz: Ebizz's Top albums of the 2011
A few albums that didn't make the cut...
MMG - Self-Made Vol 1.
Undun - The Roots
Killer Mike - Pl3dge
Pac Div - Mania
Top Singles
Nas - Nasty
Kendrick Lamar - ADHD/Watch for Detox
The Vent - Big K.R.I.T
BET Cypher - Slaughterhouse
Otis - Kanye West/Jay-Z
Thanks to Slaughterhouse for bringing real rap raw to the mainstream. With backing from Em, these guys tear up any beat, any mic that is put in front of them.
These guys >>>>> Your fav rapper
In addition, 2011 will be remember for the year of the resurgence of relevant white rappers. MGK, Yelawolf, Mac Miller to name a few are not only talented, but also dont try to "be black" or be something there are not (example Riff Raff). But at the same time, somebody left the door open for the Riff Raffs and Kreashawns(--->) of the world. The popcorn sound that is being passed off as music I guess has passed me by. Maybe I'm too old or too smart for my own good, but this trash is all over the radio and youtube. Lets be real and call trash what it is from now on and quit giving out passes for being white, or a female, or blind, or stupid.
Speaking of STUPID
This is where fashion is heading. Don't the utes of today realize that we didn't even wear some of the crazy stuff they trying to bring back.
On to sports.....
2011 was a crazy, then boring, then unexpectedly crazy year all wrapped into about 6 months of total action. Since nobody really watches baseball until the playoffs, lockouts in the NFL and NBA, along with the traditional scandals in NCAA with money and boosters, these stories dominated the headlines and rightfully so.
The NFL lockout was about money, a few health issues, and more money. The only good thing is that both sides knew it was about money and the bickering was only a posturing to ensure neither side would bluff the other side into something stupid. The rookie pay scale was atrocious, the health issues that they stated they wanted to fix couldn't possible be a long term solution. Its football. People are paid to literally kill the person in front of them running full speed.
To some, it was a test run for how fans could possibly react to a NBA lockout, even though the fan bases are totally different and totally segregated. The NBA lockout was also something that could have been somewhat avoided but egos got in the way. Need proof? Look at the next pic and remember how that went down.
How sweet would this have been for not only Laker fans, but for New Orleans, Houston, and potentially Orlando and the eventual Dwight Howard trade? |
Speaking of Dexter, 5 questions for next season...
1. Does Dexter "love" Deb back?
2. Does Dex find the missing hand at his apartment?
3. How does La Guerta put the pressure on Deb?
4. Are Quinn and Angel gonna have a real fight or does the black guy get a better role?
5. Does Nerd Boy turn into a serial killer?
Since I brought up Dexter, another Showtime program has me hooked. Don't say I never warned you. This show is the BOMB....literally and figuratively.
Enough with the bad news....
Love him or hate him, he still cant throw a damn ball to save his life.
Rob Gronkowski is a beast.
Rob Gronkowski is a beast.
Rob Gronkowski is a beast.
Rob Gronkowski is a beast.
Rob Gronkowski is a beast.
Rob Gronkowski is a beast.
Now that is settled, the other TE in New England isnt bad either, Hernandez.
Aaron Rodgers ripped up 2011 like nobodies business. 15-1 in regular season. Super Bowl Champ and MVP. Discount double check commercials that are funny. Hey Favre, tell me how my ass taste?
Not to be outshined, Drew Brees cruised past Dan Marino's record to the tune of 5,476 yards. With the league becoming more pass happy and quarterback friendly, this record will hold up for I would say less than 2 yrs. Good piece on ESPN thinks so too.
This is a sore spot or me but Eli is passing up big brother Peyton. Peyton held my Colts hostage this year by not really being able to heal correctly, not his fault, but 3 neck surgeries? Nobody even knows if Peyton can even play again. Not to mention that first overall pick might spell like Luck? Meanwhile Eli is back in playoffs with sneaky good team. They run well, throw a mean deep ball to Victor Cruz and play enough defense to win, especially vs pass first teams. Sound familiar?
Let's not forget about the Dream Team, Philly Eagles. Sure they didn't live up to expectations but they made it interesting down the stretch. The Eagles are bringing back their same team next year and probably a real defensive coordinator. Not to mention Fraction Jackson will have some change in his pocket....
I'm just saying.
Memo to the haters:
Superman is in the building.
And Robin too.
Speaking of Batman and LeRobin, the Heatles are going back to the Finals. People give them a lot of flack for being the "big 3" but the whole league is full of tandems and always have been. As long as LeBron can show his face in the 4th quarter, they are the hands down favorites to win this year. But if LeBron disappears in the 4th like his hairline, he might as well pull a MJ and go bald.
Let's be real, Dallas got hot at the right time, had the right pieces and won the championship. They deserved it.
This young man is awesome. Some may say he needs to work on his interviewing skills, but he is a highlight reel waiting to happen. If he had anything that looked like help on his team, I would break out my old Chicago Bulls starter jacket.
Shout out to Albert Pujols for getting that money. As a lifelong St Louisan, let me be the first to enlighten dumb outsiders and insiders. The Cardinals never pay for Black/Brown talent. The whole situation could have been avoided had they not tried to play him with the low ball contract in dollars or years. Then for the dumb fans to say he is a traitor for taking more money and extending his baseball life (which in turn would allow him to potentially break more records, hence even more money), KILL YOURSELF. Nobody turns down money, rich people, poor people, nobody. Newsflash for Cardinal fans, its not like the Cubs or Brewers are getting any better instantly, you have time to find your next Pujols. Oh wait, there will never be another one. Oh, dang. Well you should have paid the man. Seriously, the Cards will still win 80-85 games, get wild card and lose to the Marlins. lol
So, its 2012 and....
Now we have to deal with Lil Kim and North Korea. The day after Big Kim died, Lil Kim was playing with all the toys, launching missiles, firing all the big guns, and such.
So what are we, the United States of Freedom gonna do about this?
Just as long as Lil Kim doesnt take down the Playstation Network for 3 months again, we aighhht.
We also gonna have all the crazies coming out this year with the perceived end of the world coming.
Does that mean that tithes should not be made out to the "building fund"?
The Mayan calendar calls for the world to end on December 21, 2012. If we make it pass there, I will write a wrap up for 2012.
