Losers and Winners

I hate the Patriots. They are like your big brother when you are 11 and he is 15 and you play Madden and he sends you a trade that you think is the best thing in the world except you just Ditka'd your team for one player who is probably gonna get hurt the next game. They just do the little things that you want your team to do. Look at Ocho face once he got the news he would be traded to the Pats instead of forced to play with Jordan Palmer at qb.
Then the Pats rolled the dice on the Icebox Albert Haynesworth. Seen here taking a nap on the field, I doubt if the Pats allow that. See - Moss Transformation for examples.

A good week to be a former Eagles qb. McNabb went to the Vikes for a ham sandwich and a bag of chips, while Kevin Kolb got a get out of jail free card and went to play in the worst division in football, along with one of the best WRs in the game.  Expect 3500 yards and 30 tds for Kolb throwing against the Rams and Seahawks alone. As far as McNabb, wouldn't it be bittersweet to end up with his old buddy TO? There is no denying the chemistry they had on and off the field. lol.  But with Sidney Rice flying the coup, the Vikes are in heavy need of a big WR, with Percy Harvin set to play Desean Jackson in MINNY.

Other Winners
Eagles - Rodgers-Cromartie - Much needed to play with and after Samuels
Saints - Sproles - Kickoffs and Reggie Bush plays
Dolphins - Reggie Bush - Took his talents to South Beach
Panthers - Resigned Deangelo Williams, Greg Olsen from Bears, Charles Johnson

LOSERS
The Bengals have no QB, no WRs, and a coach that they must have some gay nude photos of, and that was a team that finished 4-12 last year. I guess they have one good WR in AJ Green, but who throws him the ball? Jordan Palmer?

Other losers
Titans - Why do they keep going for "veteran" white qbs? Hasselbeck has had one season with qb rating over 75 in last 5 years. I know Vince wasnt the answer but come on.
Rams - Moss, Rice, TO, Roy Williams, Plax, Vincent Jackson, Braylon Stonehands Edwards, Lance Moore, etc etc. Couldn't make a move on any of these guys?

I guess this just about sums it up.

NBA Week One Wrap, Favre Limps Out, Moss Flashes

This was a sad scene from the Vikes game. I really felt bad for old man winter. Up until this point, Favre had a good game, 22-32 for 259 yds and a not his fault pick. If It wasnt for a clear pass interference on a Randy Moss TD, this would have been a different game. But instead Favre got chin checked, Randy Moss got waived, and Adrian Peterson got Tavaris Jackson to look forward to next year.

Speaking of Moss - Did Randy lose a step or do teams not even let him get going? Does he still pose that deep threat that he did in 2007 or is it the mystique? Not taking a swipe at Moss which I love, but is their any debate anymore of which "diva" WR you would want this late in there career: Moss or TO? Hands down, TO is showing that he still has "it" and he runs all the routes, but he doesn't make slot WR better like Moss. Pick your poison.

Around the NFL - McNabb is headed to free agency and a possible stint at Oakland County Jail (with the new look Raiders). Is Jamarcus Russell the answer in Washington....really? Can we give Raheem Morris coach of the year for the 5-2 Bucs even though they havent beat one team with a winning record? It still is much better than year's past. The Bucs probably have the easiest schedule in the league and are headed to a first round exit in the playoffs. Dallas is done.

NBA Week 1 Recap - The Lakers....well are still the team to beat. Dwight Howard has some post moves, but does that hurt the overall team scope of Orlando where the shooters need touches just as much as Howard does now? The Heat are one hell of a work in progress. Despite losing the biggest opening season game in league history, they have bounced back nicely. Monta Ellis and the Warriors might lead the league in scoring and defensive pts allowed. Blake Griffin is going to lead the league in freakishly amazingly scary OMG WTF moments this year.

Tiger's Tuesday

We ain't going to beat up on Tiger more than he already has been....but we have a special guest MC to come through for the remix. Class, say hi to CBeans.

1. Undefeated Season: Colts, Saints, or Both?
DProfessor: Colts schedule - Den, @Jax, Jets, @Buff, NO - @Atl, Dallas, Tampa, @Carolina - Injuries have slowed down the majority of all the teams remaining (ATL loses Ryan and Turner, Jets with Sanchez, Car - with Williams, DT, etc.) but I think it is conceivably that both teams go at least 15-1. Colts coach did say he would get his players rest if they wrap up the best record in AFC this weekend.
EBizz: Colts will be...the Saints looks like they wanna take an "L" before they get to the playoffs.
CBeans: Neither, the Colts are bound to fall to a non worthy team (Denver, Jets, Bills). With a So So D mixed with suspect running game, they look real sketchy . The Saints are a interception fumble away from already having a L. With that being said, the Saints have the best chance to get the goose egg.

2. Undefeated Super Bowl?
DProfessor: In the words of Drake, that would break the record for most and OMFG and Effing big plays ever. Most exciting Super Bowl in the history of Super Bowls. They would have to play this one twice it would be so good.
EBizz: I doubt it. One of the other teams not getting as much praise can come in and cause an upset to shake up the standings. Who?? i dunno........
CBeans: Not this year, This has been a crazy year for football. One man leaves a team that is not a quarterback and the team falls apart (Steelers). A Running back comes back from almost being a security guard at the Loft to being a MVP candidate (C. Benson). With that being said, not happening this year.

Sidebar: Drake was sounding so West County right now. Stop, go back to the 24 hr...champagne diet Drake.

3. NFL MVP?
DProfessor: MVP has become a lifetime achievement award in a lot of sports, but the NFL can't go wrong with a split MVP despite the final records of their teams. Without each player playing QB, these teams would have been middle of the road at best. If the Chargers ever decided to play the first 4 weeks of the season, a sneaky candidate would be Philip Rivers. I'm just saying....
EBizz: Peyton Brees has been tremendous scenery so far. My third would have been Brett, but Arizona had other ideas in mind last weekend.
CBeans: Drew Brees, no question. Men lie , Women lie, numbers dont.

4. BCS or Playoffs?
DProfessor: The above proposed playoffs would be "Where AMAZING happens." I would neglect my kids every weekend from Dec-Feb with these playoffs and the NFL swinging in right behind it. On a second thought, please don't go to a playoff system. I wouldn't want my wife accusing me of cheating with my girlfriend HD...I don't need the Tiger treatment.
EBizz: I say both will give us some action and some surprises along the way.
CBeans: Playoffs for sure. Thats why I cant get into college football. Their is no clear winner. Bowls and a computer program does not make you a champion in my eyes. At the end of the season their will be multiple undefeated teams but one champion. I could not get mad at Boise State for thinking they were the National Champions. They did what they were supposed to do and that is win all their games. In retrospect, havent they only lost like 4 games in the last 5 years...we looking real Tebow ish.

5. BCS Games: Stop Hiding the Big Boys!!!!!
EBizz: The reality of the matter is.... Alabama all the way. No one else in the whole country is better. If TCU or one of the other little guys were in the SEC, ACC, etc they would not even be getting all these arguments because they would not have the same record point blank. Next year it will be an argument for another little guy, but i guess they need love too huh???
DProfessor: If TCU was in the SEC, Florida or Alabama would have an L next to their name too. Let's not forgot, the little guys didn't need any help destroying Alabama last year.
CBeans: Read above, don't feel like repeating myself.

6. Heisman: Ingram or Anybody Else?
DProfessor: No defensive player other than Charles "Defensive MVP of 2009" Woodson did so back in 97. But Woodson had return duties working in his favor. Su from Nebraska had 11 tackles and 4 sacks in the Conf Championship game vs Texas. He did everything short of playing tight end for Nebraska.
EBizz: I like Ingram but I like Toby Gerhart and Ndamukong Suh a whoooooollee lot!
CBeans: Ingram, why every time their is a Heisman conversation their are goofy quarterbacks that are mentioned with these outragous numbers mentioned. Its not hard to throw a ten yard out to Percy Harvin and he breaks its for 80 yards. Ask White Jesus aka Tebow.

7. Number 1 in NFL Draft is....
EBizz: Depending on the need of the team: WR- Dez Bryant Def.-Suh QB-McCoy or Clausen.
CBeans: Colt McCoy...Rams need a QB
DProfessor: The Rams need every thing. If I were the Rams, I would go Su and then hope one of the quarterbacks are available in the 2nd round.

8. What happened to USC?
EBizz: You made the claim that its a down year in football right?? well you have your answer
CBeans: I dont know..Maybe all the Samoians LB's are staying in Hawaii. Maybe with the coordinators leaving for other coaching jobs, Carroll has to actually coach.
DProfessor: I wouldn't consider this a Notre Dame type let down or a New England end of the dynasty moment. Maybe it was some self-serving reasons Carroll didn't want Sanchez to leave. The man had a plan and Dirty Sanchez messed it up. Sanchez is taking his lumps in NFL too.

9. Mr Glass: Greg Oden out AGAIN!!!!
DProfessor: Mr Glass is out after having a decent season. I didn't think he was all that great coming out of college, especially in comparison to PGCounty aka Kevin Durant. There is no point in comparing their careers so far, a better comparison would be Sam Bowie.
EBizz: Only was a matter of time... how much are they paying him again????????????
CBeans: I feel bad for the guy. He actually this year looked like he knew how to ball. He was starting to score in multiple ways (Hook shots, up and unders, etc). Hell his foot work is better than D Howards. But at his age we should have known that ostioporasis was going to set in and cause issues.

10. Iverson retires again this weekend?
EBizz: Stop with the hate. Iverson can still lead the league in scoring if need be. Lead a team to the promise land...thats a different story. Yet, he is in good company with a large percentage of the league, seeing how only a few players are skilled enough to do so. Let Iverson do his thing. I support him 100%!!!!
DProfessor: Ok ok....not hating but if he goes to the bench on another bad team, he is going to hang it up. In his first game back, he said his legs weren't ready to play. AI and Brand may share come back player of the year awards....
C Beans: Naw he got make some money to take care of his kids and the furture Tiger Wood Trial he will have.

Come back for some more, or we will send Elin after you.

Friday Nov 20, Deeper than Rap

1. Pacquiao>>>>>(Your Favorite Boxer)
DProfessor: Let me kick this one off. Pacman destroyed Miguel Cotto. That is three separate articles that say the same thing. Pacman walked Cotto down like he was the bigger man, like he was the bully....which he was. Cotto looked great, in great shape, was quick, had a game plan. But Pacquiao was that much better. Pacquiao had the strength and speed to make Cotto back up with crushing body blows and hooks to the dome. Cotto was outmatched and admitted so in the post fight like a man.
Ebizz: No need for comment you covered all basis on this one. Pacman numbers just in....

2. Who wins: Mayweather vs Pacquiao
Ebizz: I'm gonna still ride with Mayweather if they ever get into the ring. I'm not fully confident because they are both tough fighters. Comparing all the old fights does not always equate to how they will box versus each other. The only way to figure it out will be to have them get it on in!!!! Still, Mayweather has my vote.
DProfessor: The trickiest part of this equation is that Mayweather won't actually fight. IF he signs and IF he comes to the ring, he is going to dance his azz off like he was still on NBC (pic above). There is a time when a boxer does actually have to swing....this isn't the Olympics. Pop shotting and jabs shouldn't be able to win a fight. And that is saying that he lands due to the fact that Pacman maybe faster than he is. Floyd may be quicker, but Pacman is definitely the stronger fighter. Just look at the fights they had in common, Pacman disposed of Hatton earlier than Floyd and in more dramatic fashion. Let's not forget, Hatton won some rounds vs Floyd, it wasn't pure domination. And Oscar vs Floyd didn't hold a candle to Pacman making Oscar quit.

3. Who loses first: Colts or Saints?
DProfessor: Saints have a near cake walk to 16-0. Saints get Tampa, Pats, Washington, Atlanta, and Dallas in the next 5 games, with Tampa and Carolina to finish the season. If they make it past the Pats and Cowboys at home...hello Undefeated. Colts have a much harder schedule with Ravens, Houston, Tenn, Denver and Jax in next 5 games. Add in some injuries, inconsistent young wrs, and patchwork defense, I think this is a no brainer.
Ebizz: Not a no brainer. I do not consider this a cakewalk. There are alot of hungry teams in that NFC who are fighting for a playoff spot like Dallas, Atlanta, Carolina. In my opinion it can go to either one especially being that the Rams damn near beat the Saints.

4. Super Bowl Pics?
Ebizz: Minnesota and the N.O.---is that even possible? I love what the Colts got going on and those Bengals. holler back.
DProfessor: My NFC teams were originally Green Bay and Giants. That's not gonna happen. How about I roll with Arizona and Saints. AFC was New England and Ravens. Well...Pats might make it but the Ravens got old fast. I stick with Pats and Bengals. Super Bowl, I will stick with 4th and 2 Belicheck.

5. Surprise Teams:
DProfessor: You picked the Saints to surprise everybody this year. Here is your time to gloat about knowing more than me in the National Football League.
Ebizz: I wont gloat brother!!! But I will say TOLD U SO lol!!!!!!!!!

6. BCS Bullcrap
Ebizz: After you name off the few games Cinci and Boise St. played continue reading their schedule and you will see that the strength in schedule STILL does not match up. Cincinnati also has bums like SEMO on their list. What if Florida or Alabama played them? And the ACC is not even worth a mention outside of maybe two teams. Regardless of the matter, the teams are stationed in the proper ranking order because when it comes down to it. The small guys that you are representing will not will if they played Florida or Alabama. They need to stay in a little guys place where they are.
DProfessor: I know you think I am always fighting for the little man, but lets compare the tale of the tape. The fuss is that the smaller schools don't play anybody all year and then show up to the party and get blasted. How has that theory played out for Ohio St or Alabama for that matter. Florida and Alabama play just as many cupcakes as "good SEC teams". Florida played Charleston Southern, Troy and will play Florida Intl this week for non-conf games. Alabama has played a stiffer schedule with Va Tech, Florida Intl, North Texas and Chattanooga. Not exactly world beaters. Cincinnati played Oregon St, Fresno St and Illinois. TCU went to ACC country and beat Virginia and Clemson. Boise knocked out Oregon and also got Fresno St. The big boys are bailing out the small programs to boost their records but not their credibility. And staying in their place...Utah beat Joe Louis's azz (Alabama) badly in the bowl game.

7. Heisman?
Ebizz: Tebow all day.
DProfessor: Can we not award the Heisman and save it for next year like roll over minutes? By default, the trophy goes to Tebow or McCoy unless one or the other loses. How about some love for Dan LeFevour? He is Tebow 2.0 and will be a better pro. He has great numbers with 2500+ passing yards, 600+ rushing, and 36 total tds. He is the next Big Ben....watch for him.

8. From Italy with Love: Brandon Jennings
Ebizz: This dude is awesome. I admit the media forced my hand into not expecting much out of him, but that overseas trip seasoned him to come in like a veteran.
DProfessor: He dropped a double nickel vs Golden State (* for no defense) and a star is born. Clap for him. He is averaging 25ppg, 6 ass, 5 reb and is shooting a great percentage. The knock on him was that he couldn't shoot right? You don't hear the name Rubio too much anymore do you? Hands down Rookie of Year.

9.College Bball - Who is hot?
Ebizz: Well, I love that Michigan State squad. Those guards are professional in how they handle things on the court with maturity. Louisville looks real nice. Look out for highlight reels from Peyton Siva, and St. Louis' own Jared Swopshire. Kentucky is full of talent that is awaiting to gel, and expect one and gone out of John Wall. Did you see him posterize Jerry Stackhouse this summer?? DAAAAMMMMNNNN
DProfessor: I dont know about this year, but UNC signed 3 of top 20 kids for next year. Shouldn't there be a cap on how many top 100 can sign with one school or another? I place the cap at 3. That is kind of like NCAA Free Agency. Teams can't sign all the top free agents in the league every year, so NCAA should feel some of that burn too. Let's face it, its not like they are going to school for the great dinners in the cafeteria.

10.Allen Iverson on the move
Ebizz: Word is that Iverson may be heading to either Miami or the Knicks. I say that Miami will be the better fit. This way DWade will be able to lighten up on the scoring load a little bit, and they are in desperate need of help at the guard position anyways. Iverson will be back on a team will playoffs contention as opposed to New York. The Knicks are not in need of Iverson they need a recking ball to take down Madison Square Garden and start from scratch. Hell, The St. Louis Rams need him at QB as well, but thats another topic for next week.
DProfessor: Is this the classic case of pampered athlete not realizing that is time is done? I love AI, always have but he is gonna out like a lightweight right now. Don't sign for the money and then say you want to win. Don't lie to yourself or nobody else that you "wanted" to be in Memphis. AI would have been better off to just hold out until December/January and let injuries or the swine flu take cats out the line up and come in and drop 30 like Earl Boykins. I liked the Miami deal before the season. Heat fans, quit lying to yourself and saying Mario Chalmers is your PG, he is just keeping the seat warm.

10 Spot: So good ...you wanna slap your momma

1. How about them Canes????
DProfessor: You were hating on my Canes last week but they bounced Oklahoma right out of the BCS picture. Baby James ran the rock like his big cousin Edge and the defense came to play. With only tough road games of UNC and USF in the last week of the season, the U is looking at minimal 10-2 this season. Harris for Heisman?
Ebizz: I would not pull that Heisman card just yet! I love Harris but lets look at the fact that Oklahoma is NOT as good this year as previous ones. They lost their first game of the season to No. 20 Brigham Young. Simply put.

2. Who is Heisman Front Runner?
Ebizz: Tebow is my number one guy at the time. Second Colt McCoy of them longhorns i hated since they knocked off Reggie and USC. Tony Pike (Cinncinatti) and Dez Bryant (Okla. St.)
DProfessor: I am sure that Tebow is still in the debate as long as he only misses 1 game with the concussion but I am looking at Best (Cal), Ryan Matthews (Fresno), Golden Tate (ND), Dez Bryant (OKSt) and Tebow by default as my Fave Five right now.

Sidenote: We sure Tebow still a virgin? I'm just saying...

3. Most Overated College Team?
Ebizz: Ohio State is who I consider
DProfessor: I know you gonna hate this one, ALABAMA. Who have they really played? Other than VTech, they beat Isaiah Thomas at Florida Intl and North Texas. Stop scheduling these cupcake schools people.
Ebizz: Alabama overrated??? hahaha. You must have not watched them play this year. They will be in the National Championship game this year with Miami at home watching them. We are talking about the best defense in college football with only a better than average offense, but powerful weapons. Yet enough to wil it all!

4. Will the "Mid Majors" Play in Title Game this year?
DProfessor: Of course, this year is prime for another Boise State type victory over the big dogs. In the top 25 right now, so called mid majors include Boise St (6), TCU (10), BYU (18), and Cincinnati for that matter at (8). Remember, most of theses schools dont have to play other top 25 schools for the rest of the year. Not saying that their conference schedules are cake walks, but they aren't Miami either.
Ebizz: Boise State has a chance to run the table and I say if you can do this, you deserve a chance at a title game. The reason alot of popular teams do not play the mid majors is because they are too scared they will loose. And yeah?? What has gotten into Miami?? They are finally playing with some heart again. Bout time.

5. Shhhhh.....No one is talking about us!!!
Ebizz: I would go with Auburn at the moment. They are undefeated against the likes of Tennessee, and West Virginia. Now in a couple of weeks, I may change my mind but we are talking about right now right!!!
DProfessor: It has to be Oregon right? They went from being blown out with zero offense on national tv, with a Mike Tyson Punchout scandal and out of it, to quietly being ranked #13. And now they may be considering reinstatement of Tyson, I mean Blount for the home stretch. The Mighty Ducks might have something cooking over there.

6. Bobby Bowden on the Hotseat?
Ebizz: He should be. Bowden has done great things for the game, but dude is getting old and sometimes that is enough to decide to sit DOWN. His run is coming to and end.
DProfessor: As you can read >here..., Bowden is probably coming down to his last hoorah. Too much up and down for what used to be the flagship Florida football school. I can still see Charlie Ward out there running the spread. He had a good run, maybe it is time. Next up...Joe Pa.

7. Oklahoma Bowl Bound?
Ebizz: Hell no. If they make a Bowl then you there is some behind the scenes stuff going on!!! When you loose to a team that already has no chance of making the National Championship game, you do not deserve a chance to make it in either.
DProfessor: Let's see, 2-2 but still in top 25? How does that happen? Sure they lost to other ranked schools but cmon. The schedule isn't getting any easier. Texas, at Kansas, at Nebraska, and Oklahoma State....not to sure they dont have at least 2 more losses going.

8. Lol...Who will return healthier...Tracy McGrady or Kevin Garnett?
Ebizz: Those knees aint nothing to play with K.G.!! Yet the back isn't either. I think both are looking towards the tunnel of falling all the way off, but the edge may go to KG. The reason I pick Garnett is because Doc Rivers is gone keep his baby on the pacifier until he trust he can play regular again. That will diminish the chances of him getting hurt out there. Mac is always hurt and retirement may be the best suggestion for him. I loved his game while it lasted........
DProfessor: But as the song says....The thrill is ovvverrr...That's all I know from that song. I think KG has the edge because he wants it more. Plus having Sheed backing him up doesnt hurt either.

9. Who Chokes: Detroit or Minnesota?
Ebizz: Baseball? We talking about Baseball? Really? I dont do that brother!!!! Next
DProfessor: I have a pitching duel Tuesday night, with Detroit winning 8-6.

10. One NFL - Green Bay vs Minn
DProfessor: I know were you going with this one. I like the original Favre Fanatics. Look for Purple Jesus (All Day) to run silly, but Rodgers has had this game circled since Favre signed. Believe DAT!!!
Ebizz: Thanks D.

************Leave us some comments so we can know what the hell you think too**************

More NFL on Thursday!!!

Too be fair, NBA Live 10 trailer.

10 Spot: We Got it For Cheap

1. Broncos 3-0?
Ebizz- They are doing what they did the other years they were successful, which is coming with a strong dose of the run game! Not to mention that Kyle Orton is yet to throw a pick this season. The defense I've yet to mention is no punk either!!!!.'
DProfessor: Sometimes you are lucky, and sometimes your schedule is your best friend. You could say their first test is this weekend vs Tony Romo's Ribs, but Dallas is down to possibly the 3rd rb. Choice is good, but the 3 headed attack of Barber, King Felix, and Choice is a force. Broncos 3-1 after this week.

2. Three Favorite Running Backs at the moment
Ebizz- Adrian Peterson will have to top that list for me. He runs with a purpose and is strong as a bull. There are few running backs in the league that have the skills he does. A healthy Brian Westbrook is very crafty and extremely hard to bottle up because he can run strong and also his receiving game is top notch. Maurice Jones Drew is excellent as well. Its hard to narrow down three, but you cant go wrong with any of these.
DProfessor: I have to go All Day, Chris Johnson, and Cedric Benson. The question was right now and Westbrook isn't out there. Jones-Drew gets runner up awards. The first two are not even debatable, but Benson has been a man possessed in Cincy. If Cincy makes it to the playoffs, or any where respectability for that matter, it will be because of Benson's legs.

3. Where is the "D" in Tennesee?
Ebizz: It is very disappointing when your fantasy defense is one of the worst. That is the scenario for me and them Titans. They are getting scored on big time week in and week out. Houston lit them up last week and the Jets this week. Did Fat Albert make that much of a difference?
DProfessor: The run D is still there, but the passing game is getting torched. New Defense Coordinator hard hitting Chuck Cecil may have his clipboard snatched if they don't start producing soon. Oh yea...winning cures all woes too.

4. Drew Brees - Steve Nash of the NFL?
Ebizz: I would like to agree with that one. Both guys have alot of heart and play with a high level of perfection when on the court/field. They are both leaders for their team and take full responsibility for their teams success which for both has also only gotten them so far........
DProfessor: Similar championship pedigree of zero. I like both guys but their teams have one major item in column: Fun to watch, loses in 2nd round. Let's hope Brees doesn't fall off the wagon as far as Nash and his back have.

5. Favorite College moment of the Weekend
Ebizz: My favorite moment of the weekend was when the University of South Florida took the pants down of Florida State and spanked that boo boo!! They was a message to the other Florida teams (except Florida Gators) that we are not to be looked over down here!!!
DProfessor: Let the video speak for itself. Even though it was 2 weeks ago, who cares. The boy did the stanky leg.

6. Biggest College Football Disappointment of the Week
Ebizz: Hands down this goes to Miami who got destroyed by Virginia Tech. Miami could not have know what was coming because they were more than a few steps slower than Tech. After all the trash talk, I would say this loss was somewhat embarassing.......
DProfessor: My Canes didn't have a chance. I noticed that Harris, although accurate, locks on to his target EARLY. But how about the old ball coach spanking Ole Miss on prime time television. Ole Miss was wayyyyy more overrated than Miami.

7. Worst individual NFL performer of the week
Ebizz: Jamarcus Russell has won this award three weeks in a row in my opinion. Everyone wants to say give the kid time to get it together, etc. Sanchez came in and had his stuff together. So did Stafford and Matt Ryan. What is this guys problem?? Another week of throwing 3 for 20, or something close, Russell needs to sit down.
DProfessor: It's hard to argue against Russell, but the crazy thing is that he still won a game. But let's be real, did anybody ever watch him at LSU? He was overrated then. He was always coming back because of stupid stuff he did to put his team in the hole in the first place.

8. LeBron James' next destination?
Ebizz: I say LeBron to stay in Cleveland. The whole New Jersey idea is thought provoking, but I say it may not happen. With this Russian billionaire stepping in, there are talks of Arvydas Sabonis joining the organization and so forth....Does not sound enticing to me but you never know. Then the Knicks may not be able to pay him as much as they thought because of the whole economy problem....In the end a championship is important, but I dont know if it's more important to players than wealth. If money is then he stays in Cleveland, which I see him doing.
DProfessor: At this point, does it matter? I am more interesting in some of the other studs and if the collusion of DWade and Bosh to the Bulls or something. Now that would be newsworthy. Unless LeBron spurns the entire state of Ohio for the Big Apple and a terrible team, I say lets watch it play out.

9. Kimbo Slice - Real or Fake MMA?
Ebizz: I think Kimbo is ...
DProfessor: Hold that thought right there EBIZZ. I don't mean no disrespect but Kimbo Slice is one of the greatest FIGHTERS of ALL TIME. All Time.

10. Upset Alert
Ebizz: Denver over Dallas and Tony Homo.
DProfessor: Oakland over Houston. Wait...No Brett Favre and Packers story?
Ebizz: Neahhhh...

10 Spot

1. Vick debut or Kevin Kolb show?
DProfessor: Let's see, Kolb threw for 350+ yards (good) but 3 ints (bad) vs New Orleans. Not exactly a defensive powerhouse. KC can't be that good, they loss to Oakland for crying out loud. I say Vick gets in game shape, but Kolb plays a conservative game.
Ebizz: Well D, Imma say lets stay with Kolb. Vick needs real time to get into game shape. From the preseason Vick's on-field play proved to be resourceful but not as affective as he can be yet. So lets give him some time.

Sidenote: Why in the hell are teams so afraid of Jeff Garcia? I have at least 3 teams (STL, TB, hell maybe even Dallas) that could use Garcia right now.

2. Who is the best 2-0 team?
DProfessor: 2-0 teams are Giants, Vikes, Falcons, Saints, 49ers, Jets, Baltimore, Colts, Broncos. I know you money is on the Vikes, but I would have to say its the Giants with a runner up of the Ravens. Yep the Ravens. The Giants knew what they were doing when the got Eli. He is really starting to shine with some young receivers. But Baltimore is nasty. They still have the D, but Flacco and the run game is serious.
Ebizz: Imma go with my Vikes baby!! Why not??? They scared me a little bit against the Lions, but they are a complete team and I will never bet against A.P!!!

3. Who is the worst team in league?
DProfessor: Hands down St. Louis. Two words - Black Out. 7 points in 2 games. Even though they aren't getting dominated, they are terrible. And it starts with the offense. The defense is pretty solid and seems to be buying in the new coach's schemes great. But the offense is plagued by a statue Marc Bulger at QB, a nonphysical runner in Jackson, and thats about it. Nobody is rushing to pick anybody up for a fantasy spot. St. Louis and Detroit might be heading into week 8 both looking for their first W.
Ebizz:You are correct again D. The Rams are worse than the Mizzou Tigers. They are soft and look so lost on the field sometime where I actually feel sorry for these dudes who claim to be pros.

4. Better week: Gore or Chris Johnson?
Stat Line: Gore - 16 car, 207yds, 2td, 5 rec, 39yds
Johnson - 16 car, 197yds, 2td, 9 rec, 87yds, td
DProfessor: Johnson's number are staggering. Those are vintage LT type numbers. Marshall Faulkish. Johnson is supposed to be sharing the backfield with Tequila White but Tequila might have to take a backseat to the next Lenny Bruce.
Ebizz: Johnson was incredible. The reason I say Johnson is because of all the damage he did, most came in the first quarter. They could have used a little more of a push from him in the second half but he did more than enough. Very impresseive.

5. Are the Patriots going to miss the playoffs?
DProfessor: I can't see the Patriots missing the playoffs. I can see them at least getting the wildcard bid. Let's face it, the AFC West and South are only going to have one representative. The Wild Cards will come out of the East and North.
Ebizz: I can see the Patriots missing the playoffs unless they get their act together. This is the first time in who knows when since they have not scored an offensive touchdown in a game. I know I know...rust, Brady just getting back, etc. All excuses. Play ball!

6. Is Romo Still Overrated?
DProfessor: TO - gone. Romo's turnovers - still here. All smiles were in Dallas after the Cowboys beat up a lackluster Tampa Bay team and the non-TO receivers had big games. Sorry to break it to you Cowboys fans, the Bucs suck. Here are the stats through the first two games.
@TB W 34-21 16/27 353yds 3td/0int qb rating 140.6
NYG L 33-31 13/29 127yds 1td/3int qb rating 29.6
The stat that is absent from the sheet is the amount of missed tackles TB had on some of these plays. Good teams don't miss tackles or miss opportunities.
Ebizz:i say people had their expectations too high for Romo from the very beginning. When he first entered the league I saw Chad Pennington reinvented and I still see it. He will lead a team pretty far but I still don't think he has enough to go all the way.

7. Which coach is on the hottest seat?
DProfessor: Carolina - Jeff Fox. He stuck with Captain Turnover at QB, didn't get any WR help in the offseason, and is in a tough division. That might be hard to swallow after the team went 12-4 last year.
Ebizz:I would agree that Carolina's coach needs to put up this year, but I also think Bears coach needs to as well. They statistically have the easiest record in the whole NFL. Not to mention Cutler, but no targets. Hester is not the answer and I say Coach Smith will have to anwer to a few people if they dont make the playoffs this year.

8. More Plaxico News
DProfessor: Plax started his 2 year sentence leaving behind a pregnant wife and 3 year old. That sucks major azz.
Ebizz: Dick Cheney shoots his friend in the face with a gun and gets a slap on the wrist while Plaxico Burress shoots himself and get 2 years. I think this is a strong indication on how our judicial system is twisted to benefit some while making an example of others. My prayers go out to the Burress family.

9. Best QB in the league?
DProfessor: With all the hoopla made around the top qbs, who would you take if you were starting a team? Not a fantasy team, that answer is obvious, Drew Brees. I still go with the brothers Manning. Either one of them, but preferably Peyton.
Ebizz:Drew Brees hands down. Look at the rate that this guy is moving and the stats he has compiled so far. I mean, the Mannings are also arguably the best, but that is why this is my opinion!!!

10. How about them Canes?
DProfessor: My boys are 2-0 after beating two ranked team. After catapulting to #9 in the polls, are they trying to set the U up for failure? They get VTech on road and Oklahoma, that's not your Florida cupcake schedule. I like the direction this team is headed. Miami should be top 5 for at least the next 2 years.
Ebizz:I cannot hate on the Canes!! South Florida has not made airwaves this year because of Miami and those Gators as well. Florida is one of a few "Mecca's" of colloge football and you can sure bet that whenever a team from there takes the field, the game will be entertaining at least.

10 Spot: NFL Week 1 and Other Crap

1. Michael "Hall of Fame" Jordan - was his acceptance speech blown out of proportion, or was he out of line?
Ebizz: Mike is the best the game has had and that should be enough to exclude him from anything negative...Frankly, who will care years from now?? He held up his responsibility as a dominating force in basketball....lets remember him for that.....
DProfessor: People are making a big deal because Mike didn't "play ball" or "give the company line"....You know what...the hell with them. Mike let his hair down, had the crowd going, and even aired a little dirty laundry. Now if Mike went up there and thanked Jerry Krause for breaking up the biggest dynasty since the Celtics, how would that have shaked out? Props to MJ23 for being real, not real stupid like Kanye.

**Side Note** - Mr. Obama please remember that you can not ham it up with the boys in between takes with a microphone in the room. You are the POTUS. You are not one of the regular guys anymore. Everything you say or do will be held against you in the court of public opinion. Thanks for telling it how it iz....but...only talk like that in the shower.

2. Serena Williams outburst - was what Serena did blown out of proportion?
Ebizz: Hell no it was not blown out of proportion far enough. Serena's thick and strong self was looking real intimidating when she let off that tirade. If athletes are not going to be punished for their actions then it will only get worse really soon. You will see.....
DProfessor: E...don't trust a big butt and a smile sometimes. Serena was wrong and totally wrong. She did everything to that lady except drop the racket and say "Let's get in on right now MF!" I...like every other straight man love Serena and her assets, but she wrong for that one.

3. Donovan McNabb injured - is it the Eagles or Donovan McNabb who is blame for the Eagles having many opportunities year after year but never come through??
Ebizz: Mr. Professor you can answer this one hopefully better than me because I don't really know ow to answer this....If I had to pick, I would blame it on mostly the Eagles and maybe 25% on McNabb because someone has to lead his team to victory. Yet, in the players defense there are significant player changes throughout the years (Jeff Garcia, T.O., etc.)???????
DProfeesor: Is this the same McNabb that pulled up tired in the Super Bowl? Sorry to say it but that was his best shot. The Eagles are still not good in short yardage and don't have a physical receiver that can make those tough plays. They have a ton of speed, but they are not a dome team. It is unfortunate McNabb got cracked running for a TD but he will be back in time to prove his worth.

4. Vicks Impact on the Eagles
Ebizz: Unless Vick all of a sudden has the arm strength he had about 2 years ago and speed to match, I see him struggling this year and may become an impact player next year. He still has a ways to go before being ready, in my opinion. May I also mention that curse I think the Eagles are under???
DProfessor: No curse, it's just the NFL. As far as Vick, he still needs to shed that baby weight he added in the joint. The arm strength was never the problem it was the decision making. He can't be Terrelle Pryor and take off running. Ouch...sorry Buckeye nation.

5. Who would be your number one pick in next years draft?
Ebizz: Easy - Dez Bryant would be my pick. He is a big strong receiver with ridiculous speed. Not to mention how he carved right through Georgia's tough defense to start off the year. That's my pick!!
DProfessor: Too easy, LaGarrette Blount. The kid packs a punch and plays with a ferocious tenacity. He is tough as nails, will have fresh legs and is NFL ready. I like Bryant too if you like tall fast and talented receivers who can also return kicks. If thats' what you are into.

6. Bonehead play of the week...Cincy Defense or McKelvin Kickoff?
Ebizz: Hands down, both of them.
DProfessor: McKelvin, only because he said he would do it again. "Next time I get the opportunity, I am going to hold on and make a better decision," he said. Let's be real, he just said that he would rather try to make a play versus taking the sure W. The better decision is to not take the ball out, he is saying he has zero faith in his offense to seal the game. Fool me once, its on me, fool me twice....

7. Suprise team of week one??
Ebizz: The team that showed me more than I thought they would was the New York Jets. Sanchez showed that he is a product of USC and why they won all those games while he was in college. I saw poise and great awareness that is usually not an aspect of a Rookie on display against the Texans.
DProfessor: It would have been the Bills, but how about the 49ers? They beat a hobbled Cardinals team but a W is a W. They stayed committed to a run game that produced 25 carries for 21 yards. They just got it done. Hats off to Singletary.

8. Overrated player of the week...Drew Brees or Tom Brady?
Ebizz: Brees threw 6 tds...what are you saying?
DProfessor: True but 6tds versus the Lions is like beating your 10 year old nephew in basketball. Unless he is 6'2 with good feet, it is pretty unfair.

9. Allen Iverson to the Grizzlies?
Ebizz: I say great move for Memphis. They can make a push to bring in some fans to save their franchise and also attempt to win 40 games this year. A seasoned veteran in a young nucleus cant hurt as well too. I see Iverson coming in and taking youngsters such as OJ Mayo and Rudy under his wing and showing them some things that will benefit them in the long run.
DProfessor: Practice...we talking about Practice? Well I say AI would have better served the Heat back court. DWade is the only person on that team that can score. Sure, AI is not Glen Rice and doesn't sit in the corner for the knockdown 3, but he isn't Eric Snow either. Memphis may surprise some teams if they play an uptempo style and get those young guards out in space. The NBA version of the Spread attack.

10. Madden Curse - do you believe?
Ebizz: Polumalu out...Fitzgerald...I dunno.
DProfessor: (Crossing fingers) I do have Fitz on fantasy team. No comment.

NFL 10spot

1. Pacman goes >Fishing
DProfessor - You telling me that Adam Jones is not better than 50% of the db's in the league and has to go to Canada to find a job? Not that I am a fan, but I can't even name the starting corners on the Rams. Can u? This is a travesty. A shammockery.
Ebizz - This is not a case of skill on the field, but stupidity off the field.....remember our last 10 spot??? No one wants to take another gamble on this guy and I cannot blame em.

2. Who's the next Cassel?
DProfessor - Not only did Tom the Great Brady get suplexed by Fat Albert and the Redskins, Matt Cassel goes down this week in KC. So the question is can Belicheck find the next Cassel and can Tyler Thigpen fill Cassel's shoes in KC? New England just cut their 2nd string qb and only Andrew Walter is left on the roster. My money is on Belicheck, not the Chiefs.
Ebizz - Simple...the great Belicheck. His track record is almost impeccable.

3. TV Blackouts and NFL Package
DProfessor - The NFL is about to make a tough stance on the blackout policy during this recession. As posted here, the Jax Jags are down to 25k in season ticket sales. I guess the fans don't like the Garrard era or post crack head Matt Jones era. I know I have been a beneficiary of Rams blackout games last year but I don't want to be forced to follow Brett Favre.
Ebizz - Well not to mention the guy who played for the "jackville" jags who was gunned down last year.... Maybe this is a sign in most areas that the times are too hard to think about a damn pigskin past time anymore???? I do not believe it myself.

4. Fantasy Update
DProfessor - Doesn't everybody usually feel good after they draft their team? Sure their are a few holes that you spot off the top, but generally a nice collection of guys. A few guys I need to come through are Ronnie Brown, Peyton Manning, Steve Smith, and Smash and Dash. If not, I'm screwed.
Ebizz - I like Kevin Boss to get some number for the Big Blue, Percy Harvin, Leon Washington, maybe Cribbs. DProfessor is running my team so he should have filled out my segment as well....damn.

Predictions
5. MVP
DProfessor - The easy choice is Tom Brady. I am going to go Aaron Rodgers. The Pack are going to put up some numbers. The one problem is that the defense is vastly improved. I am going to go Rodgers first, runner up of Manning/Brady.
Ebizz - All Day Adrian Peterson for MVP. His numbers should rise that much more higher with a presence of a descent qb handing off the ball. Who can stop him??????

6. Best Record
DProfessor - Baltimore Ravens. They play the NFC North and AFC West, only the NFC West would have been easier. Throw in a great defense, stellar running game and emerging qb in Flacco, I think the Ravens can claim a 13-3 or 12-4 season. I don't think anybody wins more than 13 games this year.
Ebizz - Best record will be wrapped up by one of four teams.....Patriots, Eagles, Colts, or Steelers.

7. Everyone's Favorite Loser
The team that is receiving the most love in the media and will fall on their face.
DProfessor - Philadelphia. I love the speed the Eagles have but they lost that 3rd corner, lost their MLB, lost their safety in Dawkins, and I don't trust Westbrook over the 16 games. McCoy seems like a great rook but I don't see that go to WR in the lineup yet.
Ebizz - I actually like the chances the Eagles have. Even though they lost some key defensive players, I still say they have enough to emerge to the playoffs and a great season. The team I pick to fail is America's own Dallas Cowboys. Now or never is the time for Romo to step up and play good more than half a season. He was pampered by the Cowboys removing all distractions so he can concentrate (wait isn't he a professional getting paid to do this already??), and lets not even talk about the new number one option Roy Williams.........

8. Surprise Team to make the Playoffs
DProfessor - San Francisco. 2 reasons - 1. They play in the NFC West. 2. Somebody has to win that division. IF, big if, they can sign Crabtree and get him up to speed by week 10, they could run the gammit with games versus STL, Philly, Detroit, Ariz, Seat, and Jax.
Ebizz - I see no surprises as far as teams in the playoffs.... I will say that I think New Orleans is ready to give a run for their division title.

9. Final Four
DProfessor - Baltimore, New England, Giants, Packers. My beloved Colts will not be able to compete without Bob Sanders.
Ebizz - Vikings, Giants, New England, Steelers.

10. Super Bowl Champ
DProfessor - New England. When all things are equal, go with good coaching and the long ball. Chicks dig the long ball.
Ebizz - Pittsburgh looks as dynamic as they did last year and they are going to do the impossible and win back to back....Hopefully those who still hate on Big Ben with silly reasoning can finally lay off if he gets a 3rd ring.

Bonus - Super Bowl prediction is a running bet. Loser has to either go Mr. T for a week or Army buzz. Pick your poison. If neither of the Super Bowl picks make it, the team with the most from the Final Four is the winner.

John Madden Retires

I'm deeply saddened that John Madden has decided to retire.  John Madden has reached the one word status of pop culture. He was on the same level as Madonna, Cher, Jordan, Tiger, OJ, well you get the picture. All you had to say was Madden. Tuesday through Saturday, Madden simply meant a festive evening with a few of your closest male buddies, a lot of curse words, and sometimes hurt feelings and pockets. On Sunday, Madden was the preacher after church. He was the football gospel like never before. For that, Madden will truly be missed. Mostly, for the great words that he has added to our vocabulary.
  http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4073253

Here's to the man that brought us the word Cankle, the phrase "No No Go Go", and excited us with "Boom!"....
Top John Madden quotes:

"When your arm gets hit, the ball is not going to go where you want it to. "
"I think perhaps it's a relationship that's not marked by a great need to interfere with each other all the time, "
"They got to Joey Harrington physically and they got to him mentally."
"If you see a defense team with dirt and mud on their backs they've had a bad day."
"The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break."
"Coaches have to watch for what they don't want to see and listen to what they don't want to hear."

Cankle Defined:
An ankle of a fat person in which the the ankle and the calf appear seamless.

No No Go Go Defined:

The term referring to when a football coach initially tells his playmaker player to not do anything stupid (the "no no" part) but when the player does not listen, and ends up making a huge play, the coaches new words are "Go Go!"
Defined as by John Madden, 11-12-06
*player catches ball in the middle of the endzone on a kickoff, starts to run towards the other end of the field*
Coach: Jackson.. NO NO!
*player reaches the 50 yard mark running full speed with 2 opponents behind him*
Coach: GO! GO!
*player scores touchdown*
Coach: I knew he would do that all along, good play call, 'eh? The ol' No No Go Go trick.

Let's just hope they don't slide in somebody stupid like Troy Aikman.

Singletary Blows Up after Loss

This is sure to be another coors light commercial somewhere down the line. (Side note: these guys are silly.) Singletary sure does sound like Dr Martin Luther King Jr to me.

1st Down - NFC Review

NFC East
1. Dallas (3-3) - The Boys are truly the best team in the NFC on paper. Too bad all of the wheels fell off the bus at the same time. Adam Jones is joining Amy Whinehouse in rehab, not to mention the other half of the secondary is hurt, and Romo. The addition of Roy Williams (instead of say...Bolden) was puzzling and they gave up the house. Williams better start catching some balls or he will be unemployed.
2. Philadelphia (4-3) - Is it me, or has McNabb peaked for the year already? The absence of Westbrook really hurts the ground game. The good thing is that their are 2 WRs coming back, along with Westbrook in this tough division.
3. Washington (5-2) - Not the prettiest 5-2 team, especially considering they lost to the hapless Rams. This team still seems to be overachieving from last year. Good team, but we will see how long they can ride the Portis train to victory.
4. New York Giants (5-1) - Who says you can't be good after winning the Super Bowl? Well, the jury is still out. This is the same NY team that started 6-2 the last 2 years. Will the real Eli Manning please stand up?

NFC South
1. New Orleans (3-4) - The only way this team wins the division is if they spread out 5 guys and throw it 50 times a game. With Bush hurt, this might not be a bad idea. Wouldn't it be cool if they were the only pro team running the spread next year? They have the WR power. PS - This defense is atrocious.
2. Carolina (5-2) - Solid run game, great WR, good QB, decent defense. Yep sounds like a playoff team to me.
3. Atlanta (4-2) - Surprise of the year. Nobody picked them to do THIS good. I still wouldn't be surprised if they end up .500. But that running game along with Ryan to the Roddy Express, this team is 2 good years away. Maybe they can bring Vick back as a KR or CB.
4. Tampa Bay (5-2) - I just don't like this offense. Their defense is scary and is getting better with age. They retooled the LB/DB core with some savvy veterans still leading the way. I just dont see this team doing better than last year. Hats off to Warrick Dunn for still playing like he has for the last 5 years.
NFC West

1. Seattle (1-5) - I didn't even have to update this section, it reads the same: It's not that the Seahawks are that good, but more of saying that this could be the weakest division in football. Seattle may struggle early with a number of receivers out, but it should be better after the return of Branch and Engram that should lead them to their 6th consecutive conference title.
2. St. Louis (2-4) - The Haslett era is in full swing. Consider that an admiration after the bye week. The high is surely to wear off against the Pats this week.
3. Arizona (4-2) - This team will go as far as Kurt Warner can lead them. Keeping Kurt upright and on the field has always been his kryptonite. With a lot of division games coming up, this team could write its own ship by week 10.
4. San Francisco (2-5) - New Head Coach, same offensive coordinator. When will people realize that Mike Martz is as much poison as potent? Sure he increases your ppg by about 6, but he is a pour evaluator of talent. This team will be ok as long as he doesn't get to shop for the groceries.

NFC North
1. Green Bay (4-3) - Aaron Rodgers took a page out of the Brett Favre page and played through a significant injury. I just hope we don't hear about poor Aaron addicted to pain killers like a certain QB before him.
2. Minnesota (3-4) - The Jared Allen experiment is not working. Well, its not all his fault but you have to blame it on somebody. Allen was supposed to be the glue this defense needed, but the Vikes let up 48pts to the Bears with Kyle Orton at QB.
3. Detroit (0-6) - At least Matt Millen is gone.
4. Chicago (4-3) - Who knew that the Bears would be a potent offense? Forte sure, Hester, OK, but Orton for Most Improved Player? Who'd thunk it?

Playoffs
Dallas, Green Bay, Seattle, New Orleans, WC - Philadelphia, Minnesota

1st Down - AFC Review

Wow was I wrong on some parts. Let's review after the first quarter of the season.

AFC East
1. New England (3-2) - Ok, who knew Tom Brady would only play for 8 seconds this season? Not only that, but the defense is aging faster than Amy Winehouse. Things looked somewhat promising after the bye, but this secondary looks atrocious. Cassell better find Moss or this team is looking at .500.
2. Buffalo (4-1) - This team has looked good, but the wins were vs bad teams like the Seahawks, Rams, and Raiders, with one quality win vs Jax'ville. This team was embarrassed by the Cardinals, have injuries to special teams and their QB. They need to heal fast or risk running away from the division.
3. New York Jets (3-2) - The Jets are a team without an identity but have a good chance to steal some games soon. With the Chiefs, Rams, Raiders coming up, this team could really find a groove before facing more division foes.
4. Miami (2-3) - Ronnie Brown for Comeback Player of the Year. Most people forgot that he was the leading rusher (and fantasy person) last year before his injury. Sure he wasnt hanging 5tds on the Pats, but he was getting it done. Surprisingly, this defense is playing lights out after letting go of Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas.

AFC South
1. Indianapolis (3-2) - After escaping the preseason, the Colts came out of the bye week slow and then pulled out the miracle at Houston, only to demolish the Ravens. The schedule heats up, but the team appears to be getting healthy at the right time.
2. Jacksonville (3-3) - Another team that is getting better as the games go along, but still very much hitting their stride. With a bye, and some warm up games vs Cincy, Clev, and Detroit, circle your calendars for a clash with the Titans in Week 11.
3. Houston (1-4) - Houston has buried themselves in the toughest division in football. 0-3 in the division means you are out of it. Not all is lost, this team could regroup to make that 8-8 range and build on Schaub, Slaton, and Johnson (sounds like a law firm).
4. Tennessee (5-0) - No one exactly saw this team as undefeated right? I see them finishing in the 11/12 win range with a return from Vince Young. They haven't exactly played the cream of the crop but this defense is tenacioius, temultuous, nasty, and smells a lot like Baltimore 2000.

AFC West
1. San Diego (3-3) - This team is one Hockele away from being 5-1. Two last second let downs changes the landscape of the West. However, this team is learning to win through the air and not depend on LT.
2a. Oakland (1-4) - My prediction was made during the Lane Kiffin era. Enough said.
2b. Denver (4-2) - This team has turned into the Colts of 04, high-flying offense, good young qb, and absolutely zero defense. Still has the potential to have the highest record without making the playoffs.
4. Kansas City (1-4) - Rebuilding. Rebuilding. Rebuilding. A win versus the Raiders and potential sweep of Broncos would be their super bowl.

AFC North
1. Pittsburgh (4-1) - This is the best team in a bad division. They just find a way to win. The system has been in place and keeps going. Things should get interesting if Fast Willie comes back for the home stretch.
2. Cleveland (2-3) - It's true. Their offense has life. Was KWinslow holding them back? Or did they catch the Giants napping? A lot of tough games in a row to test them...Wash, Jax, Baltimore, Den, Buff and then it gets tough with Colts and Titans back to back.
3. Baltimore (2-3) - You ever hear that you can't win with a rookie QB? That is true for this team and the defense knows it. At best, this guy is Trent Dilfer's backup.
4. Cincinnati (0-6) - firemarvinlewis.com is still as a domain name. Any takers?

Playoffs
San Diego, New England, Indy, Pittsburgh, WC - Jacksonville, Buffalo

Marshall Plan - Blow up the Rams

Faulk suggested that the Rams should be better than they are:

“Decisions have to be made. Do you blow it up, where do you go, what do you do? I mean, players that have had big time success, we’re talking Pro Bowl caliber players: Marc Bulger, Torry Holt, Orlando Pace, Steven Jackson. They look like they don’t belong in the league. And it’s not because they can’t play. You’re not going to tell me that. I’m not believing that they all of a sudden can’t play in this league.”

Faulk contrasting the Bears’ upset of Indianapolis to the Rams’ poor play:

“You’re not going to tell me that the (Bears) offense that they put out there is more talented than the offense that the Rams put out. It’s preparation, it’s understanding what you have; it’s having guys that are reliable.”

Faulk, on the Rams’ decision to release WR Isaac Bruce to open a starting job for Drew Bennett:

“I’m sorry, I’m a little biased to Isaac Bruce. I love Isaac Bruce, and I’ll let facts be known that there’s no way — and I don’t dislike Drew Bennett — but there is no way that this guy is better than Isaac or belongs or should be on that team instead of Isaac. It’s things like that, it’s misjudgment of talent. The guy’s been hurt. He’s often hurt. No knock on him personally, but they needed (Bruce). They could have used him (Sunday).”

Faulk on Steven Jackson:

“I said this earlier in the year, and I think people took it wrong, because I heard a couple comments. I said the Rams shouldn’t pay Steven Jackson. I don’t understand why they’re going to pay him. And I think people took it, like, maybe Steven’s not good or not dynamic. When you can’t block, and when you can’t sack the quarterback and stop the run, there’s no need to have a running back like this. There’s no need to pay him what you’re going to pay him–you’re not going to get to use him. What was he, like, 11 (actually 14 carries) for 40 yards? That’s a lot of money sitting in the backfield, and not have it or be able to use it, or you fall behind by 20 points. Now he’s definitely out of the game. And his effectiveness and what you love about him and what you’re paying him for is no longer necessary. I only forecasted that the Rams would be playing from behind, and people thought I was taking a jab at Steven–it had nothing to do with Steven; it had more to do with the team.”

Faulk on Rams defensive coordinator Jim Haslett:

“I love Jim. I used to find his defenses to be the most complicated to play against. And now I look back and I say even at (age) 35 with a bum knee I might go for maybe a hundred yards rushing and another hundred receiving right now,” against the Rams defense.

Faulk continued talking about Haslett:

“I like Jim. I’ve always thought highly of him. And I don’t know, maybe he’s upset of the old Rams-Saints days and he’s throwing games or whatever. Some of the things I saw happening out there the other day, I wonder when he sat in his office yesterday morning, what was his mindset? Was he thinking, ‘I need to change it up.’ Was he thinking, ‘my players screwed it up.’ Or was he thinking that he messed it up. Because one of the three things happened, or needs to happen.”

(Note: I think Faulk was joking about Haslett throwing games).

Faulk said Rams coaches should avoid showing the players the game film from Philadelphia:

“I went through a rough patch like this with the Colts, and coaches often don’t even want to look at the film. You don’t want guys to look at the film because it can be so bad that when players notice that it’s that bad, it’s hard to recover from. So I’m hoping that he didn’t allow them to watch the film, the coaches watched it and they go out there and try to make corrections and try to get guys to move forward from the debacle that happened. Something like that can linger though out a whole season just like last year with the Dolphins. It’s tough to get over losses like that.”

If you’d like to listen to an audio of the entire Faulk interview, it is posted at Ben Boyd’s web site, www.STLsportsInsider.com

OK, a quick postscript from me on this:

* I know for a fact that Faulk wants to step in and do what he can to turn the Rams around … he is willing to come back as a personnel executive or possibly even as a head coach … but he will not do so as long as Scott Linehan is the coach. And he probably would stay away as long as Jay Zygmunt is the GM. Faulk has told me that he likes Zygmunt personally but isn’t sure how a working relationship would go.

* Faulk has a good rapport with Rams managing partner Chip Rosenbloom and Rams president John Shaw.

* I believe Marshall is being a little disingenuous about the Steven Jackson stuff. I don’t think he has a lot of love for Jackson. I don’t think Jackson has a lot of love for Marshall; let’s just be honest about this. And I know Faulk wants to see how Jackson competes after signing the big contract.

* Faulk has intense feelings about the Rams and is saddened and frustrated by their demise … after having the best and most successful years of his career in St. Louis, he is disgusted by the decline of the franchise, which he blames on many years of terrible mistakes made on personnel decisions. It kills him inside when he hears the Rams being the butt of jokes with analysts at the NFL Network, or elsewhere on TV. Some critics will say that Faulk should hold his comments instead of speaking up and possibly creating controversy … I disagree. He’s like anyone else who loves the Rams. He’s mad as Hell. And it’s hard to keep those feelings bottled up.

My TAKE: Marshall is absolutely correct. This is the same team that drafted Eric Crouch to play WR, not to mention the other 2 qbs they drafted that they wanted to convert to WR or DB(but didnt try to take Brad Smith, a local stud and do the same?). They brought in Drew Bennett (bust), never replaced the special teams that was in place during the Vermeil years (Az-Hakim and Tony Horne), and let go a number of great players and leaders (Dre Bly, London Fletcher, Isaac Bruce, Grant Wistrom, Kevin Carter, Kurt Warner, etc.). In return, they overpaid for Marc Bulger, Steven Jackson, Chris Long, and whoever they draft #1 overall next year.
